Ok, not even close, but I did just spend the last 10 days participating in one of the most credible film festivals in the world... SUNDANCE! My duties weren't anything more glamorous than a high shcool student working part time in a small town theatre would be but thats ok.
I met some amazing people. Anyone famous, you might ask... I only talked to one celebrity and that was Fisher Stevens who I didn't recognize at first and told him he could not sit in the reserved seats in the theatre... a little embarrassing.
I was able to watch 8 films during the whole festival... the majority of them being documentaries. A couple were about politics in the United States which in all honesty... I couldn't care any less about. My favourite film that I saw was a documentary called "Blood Brother" about a young guy who moves to India to help women and children suffering from HIV. He literally sacrifices all that he has to help these people.
One documentary was about the 5 doctors who preform abortions during the 3rd trimester of pregnancies. One of the doctors had already been murdered and the other 4 all attended this screening. Our theatre was surrounded by FBI, SWAT and local police because of the dangerous threats the film team had been receiving leading up to the premier.
Tomorrow I head back home to Canada, back to work, back to life. It has been a fun, relaxing, extremely enjoyable month down here in Utah. Meeting my new nephew Isaak was definitely a highlight. I am sad that I will miss out on him growing and changing.
